Growing Family

One of the greatest “perks” about doing what I do is watching families become, grow and expand. Last Fall, when I photographed Carrie & Ellis at their Paradise Valley hillside home, it was just the two of them, cute as can be, and their giant of a puppy, Chimba, a Rhodesian Ridgeback! This year, it’s Carrie & Ellis, still cute as can be…Chimba, and Chimba’s newest playmate, the lovely Mucinda. Still, the best is yet to come…the family is growing still…soon, very soon, baby will make five!

One of the things that’s most beautiful about these Holiday Cards is that they LOOK like they cost a fortune, but don’t! Not only are these designer-quality cards fully customizable with your choice of photo(s) and text, but the customer service level of the card companies I am affiliated with, is second to none (only the best for you, my dear clients).

What makes them affordable, is that they’re do-it-yourself, but nowadays everyone is so computer-savvy, doing it yourself isn’t an issue. Plus these companies make it easy for even the less than savvy folks. So who are the fabulous ones I am affiliated with?…

Tiny Prints offers flat cards, simple and elegant, and is probably the most affordable. Minted offers luxe cards and introduced a delightful holiday booklet card this year…a great way of showing off multiple images. FineStationery.com is a little pricier than the rest with cards designed by Vera Wang, Kate Spade, Cranes & Co. and more.

Autumn

I love Autumn…the air is crisp and cool while the landscape, in contrast, has evolved into a warm and delicious palette of pumpkin, cognac and chocolate! It’s a great time of year to have family portraits taken and a great excuse to splurge on a new fall ensemble!

Bozeman mom, Teresa, makes it a point to have her family’s portrait taken every year and always does an incredible job of coordinating colors and picking out the most adorable outfits for her girls. In return, daughters Lila and June are always more than happy to not only model their beautiful new clothes but to suggest shooting locations and poses as well! After four years of photographing this adorable family, it just keeps getting better and better…

This holiday season, the girls will be welcoming their new baby brother. Yep…that’s right, it just keeps getting better and better!

Babes in the Woods {Twins}

The only thing more precious than a baby…is TWO babies! Newborn twins, Skyler and Nathaniel were happy to snuggle up together for their first official photo session at Sky Ranch. Nestled cozily in a handknit twin cocoon among wildflowers, these little peanuts were darlings and slept through most of the entire session.

Mom, dad and their daughters, Piper and Hannah are over-the-moon about the new addition to the family and we’ll be doing a family session real soon! And if you’d like to see the incredible beauty of a twin pregnancy, check out my previous post of mom Erika at 35 weeks!

35 weeks

It’s a different kind of pregnancy photo session when the mom-to-be is already a mom to two little ones. Two year old Piper and 4 yo Hannah kept me on my toes, but mom Erika was unshakable! Cool, calm and collected like she’d just arrived after an hour of deep breathing and meditation. No doubt her relaxed demeanor will serve her well when the babies are born. Yep, she’s 35 weeks and pregnant with twins!

I have a feeling that Erika is going to go the distance and that the twins will be born close to their due date. I can hardly wait to meet them and am already looking forward to our newborn/family photo session next month!

The Luxury Boutique

Last Thursday saw a great turnout at the LillyLu at the Woodlands event. It was a ton of fun to catch up with a bunch of my longtime clients, friends and fans of LillyLu, and fellow child photographer Doug Loneman and his lovely wife Stana of loneman photography. The shopping for baby and children’s clothing and accessories was plentiful. The mood, happy and relaxed. It was the perfect venue to “unveil” my wonderful new luxury boutique photography products…

Quite a spread…I know…in fact, there were some who suggested that I open a retail space in Bozeman! Others were truly amazed at the variety of luxury boutique photography items that can be created and that it’s not just about 5×7′s and 8×10′s and holiday cards anymore. The photo session is only the beginning in creating everything from fine art canvas prints to grace your walls to heirloom quality photo jewelry and handbags with which to adorn yourself!

I was pleased to introduce my new line of handmade frames by Obrien Schridde. Designed to look weathered and worn, these romantic frames have been featured in Country Home and Country Living magazines and are absolutely stunning. The quality is second-to-none! My new accordion wallet books were a big hit and are perfect for baby, child or senior portraits. Appreciated above all were my trio of custom-designed albums housed in a luxurious Impression Box. The trio included a 10×10 Flush Mount Panoramic Album, an 8×8 Companion Lay Flat Album and a 5×5 Companion Press Book. I have a variety of custom designs available for baby, childrens or high school senior portrait albums.

For the time-being, my boutique remains high on a mountain-top at Sky Ranch, but will be traveling again in July to the next LillyLu event near Springhill. The two-day event will be held July 10th & 11th. Save the date!!!

LillyLu at The Woodlands

There will also be a raffle for children’s photography sessions by both Doug & I as well as other fabulous items to include LillyLu baby gift baskets, diaper bags and nursery blankets and “The Last LillyLu Dress”, that escaped harm by virtue of having been at the dry cleaner!

Love at Sky Ranch – Part II – Baby(ies) on the Way

Five days ago, on Valentine’s Day, I was inspired to share with you the eventual legendary story of Love at Sky Ranch, the love story of Doug and Susann. HA!…Of course it all started with Doug and I, but over the years I have been honored and privileged to be asked to photograph lovers in love, couples engaged to be married and married couples who have been together for as long as anyone can remember. And to photograph them here at Sky Ranch.

Love may not always be fresh and new, but by the same token, it does not have to grow old. So, today I thought…why stop there? The story of Love at Sky Ranch certainly does not end with being a couple in love. Rather, it is only the beginning!

So I will continue this series with the miracle created by two people in love. A baby. A baby growing inside it’s mother’s womb. A couple’s dream for the future. A sign of love, hope and possibility. A baby…the glue that bonds you and your husband together in a way nothing else ever could. A baby, sight unseen, that you already love more than life itself.

It was only a week or two after Doug and I arrived at our new home high on a mountain-top at Sky Ranch, Montana, that we learned I was pregnant. Pregnant with twins…

Having built two childrens rooms in our home (prior to becoming pregnant), one decorated for a boy and one for a girl, I knew that God has answered my prayers when I learned following my amniocentesis that my tummy held one of each…a healthy baby boy and a healthy baby girl! My pregnancy, all 33 weeks and 5 days of it was truly amazing, awe-inspiring. It took forever, but went so quickly. My only regret…I wish I had more photos.

And so I’ve been thrilled to have been asked to photograph women in their last stages of pregnancy, with their husbands, and sometimes, with the children already borne unto them. Love is a family and a growing family is love. So, please…alllow me to share with you just a little more Love at Sky Ranch, the love of a baby on the way…
