Welcome, 2010!!!…and hello to my 16th cover for Montana Parent Magazine! This beautiful Bozeman trio was photographed at here at Sky Ranch a few years back. Bryan, Meghan and Nicholas…What a way to start the New Year, huh?!
Kicking off the first issue of the decade is a great article by Michele Ranard, M.Ed. titled “My Teen Never Lies {Six parenting myths about teens, lying and rebellion}. I was amazed to learn that 96% of teens lie! Wowza! So, I’m thinking…”well, I have a ways to go until I get there…after all, our twins just turned 10″. And then I learn that even though research suggests teens objecting to their parents’ authority peaks at around age 14 to 15, that what is shocking is that the need for autonomy is stronger at age 11 than at age 18. Lovely.
A little escapism was then in order, so I read all about vacationing in rustic forest service cabins by Melynda Coble Harrison in the “Are We There Yet?” section. I wish I was brave enough to stay in a cabin without mattresses, water or electricity, but right now in the cold of winter, I am loving my electric blanket and hot shower!
