Thank Full

Last night, my husband declared he has cooked his last Thanksgiving Day turkey in this house.  (Yes, I know…how lucky am I?…my husband cooks!).  It’s not that he is never going to cook a turkey again, it’s just that next year, we’ll be celebrating in the new house.  Well, at least that’s the plan and we’re sticking to it!  Our beloved Sky Ranch is for sale and we have our eye on Paradise Valley.  With a set of almost 10- yo twins, school and all their activities, it is time to come down off the hill and begin phase two of our life in Montana.  And I am thankful.

I am thankful for all the wonderful years spent here at Sky Ranch, from 1996 when Doug and I first laid eyes on this spectacular piece of land, to 1997 when we were married here as a pair of courting eagles danced overhead.  From 1999, when we officially began our life in Montana and moved into our custom-built dream log home, to the birth of our twins later that year.  To all the birthdays, holidays, holiday parties, dinner parties and everyday celebrations and just plain ol’ everydays that have filled this house with laughter and love over the years, I am thankful.  For the amazing gift of living among the elk and deer, the moose and the bear.  For the spectacular sight of a mountain lion running through the snow.  For being able to witness coyotes at play in the pasture, I am thankful.  For the magic walks in the woods among trees laden with moss, I am thankful.  For every stunning sunrise and sunset.  And for the sea of stars that shines bright at night.  For the piles and piles of snow our twins have played in, sledded on and made snowmen with.  For all this and more, I am thankful.  Thankful for our life at Sky Ranch.

Still, hard as it will be to say good-bye, what I am most thankful for in life journeys with me.  My wonderful husband and our beautiful kiddos.  And our animal family…our dogs, horses & goats and cockatiel, Zuzu.  Wherever we go, we go together as we travel forward in life,  making new memories to keep the old ones company.

Over the years, so many of you have come to Sky Ranch for your photo sessions.  And I am thankful.  Thankful to have been able to offer you such a place of such spectacular beauty.  Thankful to have watched your families grow.  Thankful to have become friends with you.

With positive thoughts, I move forward in my mind to a valley they call Paradise, not knowing exactly when, but that it will be.  Meanwhile, I offer you another look at Sky Ranch (the website) or the virtual tour, grateful that you too could share in its beauty…
