When I was a newbie to Bozeman and pregnant with twins, I went to a supposedly top salon and stylist to become a little more blonde and have a trim. When I saw my hair in the mirror after the shampooing, I was in complete and utter shock. My hair was PINK! The stylist laughed (she LAUGHED!!!) and said not to worry, she’d fix it! Next thing I knew my hair was orange. No kidding! Finally, after a few more attempts, it was a shade that I figured I could walk out of the salon with, although I don’t think any human on earth had that shade of hair color. But when you’re pregnant and sitting in a salon chair for 6 hours, finally you just have to go home no matter what you look like.
My husband couldn’t figure why I was crying my eyes out when I got home. “It’s only hair,” he said. Sometimes men don’t get it…its not only hair, its MY hair and hair is a woman’s crowning glory! Add to that being 6 months pregnant with twins and my body’s extremely large profile and hair is all you’ve got!
Well, needless to say, all the dyeing left my hair fried and it began to fall out. I chopped it off myself and wore a bandana over my head throughout the rest of my pregnancy. The bandana and my Harley Davidson sweatpants. I looked like a Hell’s Angel.
After the birth of the twins, I wanted to lose the bandana and look pretty again. LieAnn bravely took me on. To this day she teases me about what a hard time I gave her, but heck…I was nervous! Can you blame me? Anyway, she did an awesome job (she’s a gifted colorist) and she’s been my hairstylist and friend ever since.
Over the years, I’ve done her headshots and will soon be doing her kids senior portraits, but one of my favorite sessions took place when her mom & dad came to visit from Arizona. I just love sessions that include numerous generations. So here is LieAnn with her mom, Cindy on the left and daughter, Alex to the right. Beauties, all of them…

And here’s my favorite of the kids, Gaje and Alex…so playful!

I can hardly wait to do Alex’s senior portraits!…

LieAnn opened Salon Nuvo in Bozeman in 2004. Her husband, Joe of Montana Tradesmen did a complete remodel about a year ago. It’s just a lovely space with gorgeous chandeliers adding elegance to the spa-like feel. In addition to fabulous stylists, colorists, a manicurist and a facialist, the salon is also the best place in town to pick up Bare Escentuals…bare minerals, you know…the mineral make-up so pure you can sleep in it! Plus, if you’re a client, you will receive an invitation to the salon’s fabulous, fully-catered, Holiday Open House!
Thanks LieAnn, for being my hairstylist, my client and especially, my friend! I love you!
