When we first fell in love, Doug took me to Montana, a place he’d dreamed of living all his life. I fell instantly in love with the big sky, the fresh air, the friendliness of the people, the small town atmosphere, and the mountains…oh those mountains. The wildflowers, the deer and elk, the incredible beauty of nature and the freedom. He bent down on one knee and asked me to marry him in Paradise Valley. I knew saying yes to him would also mean saying yes to Montana and I was in love with both.
That same weekend, while looking at property, I knew we had found our future home when Doug began to dance around high on this mountain-top where I now sit and post this entry. We named our slice of paradise Sky Ranch. We were married here in front of 75 friends and family members as the wind blew and two eagles danced overhead. It was a glorious day graced by a double rainbow. Our love for one another only grew with the birth of our twins and continues to grow day by day as we journey through life together. A stone on our wedding site reads “Grow old along with me, the best is yet to be…” And I believe it is.
Love is all around us here at Sky Ranch. It’s in the flowers and the trees. It’s in the bluebirds and swallows that return every Spring to nest. It’s in the miracle of witnessing a deer give birth. It’s in the wide blue sky and in the rich earth. And it’s in the many couples I have photographed here at Sky Ranch over the years. Some of them just engaged, some just married, some married and pregnant, some married with children and some married as long as 50 years with great-grandchildren! I love being surrounded by love and people in love.
So on this Valentine’s Day, I’d like to share some love with you, Love at Sky Ranch…
